Overview
Google Docs is a cloud-based word-processing application that allows users to create, edit, and share documents online. It is part of the Google Workspace suite, which includes other productivity tools like Google Sheets and Google Slides. Unlike traditional word processors, Google Docs is accessible directly from a web browser, eliminating the need for software installations.

Social Impacts
Google docs presents a streamlined approach for its users by offering a variety of document templates that caters to any and all needs for both personal and professional uses. The platform's easy accessibility and gratuitous nature allows for an enhanced productivity and collaboration in real-time. Work may be accomplished remotely which reduces time spent on planning in-person meetings and more time will go toward project fulfillment.
Theoretical Foundation
The platform Google Docs can be seen as an example of the umbrella perspective. Google Docs is more than just a Word document, it also contains different features that underline the social system, organizational infrastructure, and hardware/software/content. Google Docs also contains collaborative work that can be done all at the same time. Also while doing collaborative work there's a feature to leave notes or concerns without interfering with someone else's work. Lastly, these documents can be accessed anywhere at any time through a majority of different devices making them easier to access.
